I have started on a new and exciting adventure!
Or, rather, the adventure began without my notice, a long while ago. A big light bulb went off in my head a week or so ago. I have heard of this happening to those lucky few who 'find' their true voice and find themselves.
I was looking through my toys, looking over some old photos and in my mind's eye I saw a painting develop. More than that.....I saw characters, quirky characters with inherent personalities develop from those toys and dolls.
Here are Binky (the minky) and JoJo the stuffed bear....both loved, both worn and yet...not worn out. These two guys will be appearing in future paintings along with other characters from my past and imagination, both real and unreal. Their personalities will become more and more apparent with each piece.
Unlike a lot of painters, I really don't plan the painting. It develops. In this sense it will almost be like a seance with Binky and JoJo making themselves apparent.
These pieces are not going to be for sale until I have my new body of work. This should be by the middle of May, when I will be featuring them in the Eldorado Studio Tour, in Santa Fe. If you would like to attend, please let me know and I will be happy to give you directions.
